Mobility Metro Services

We have facilities for the service and maintenance of Siemens rolling stock in Prague. One of our largest team is our team in the branch Mobility Metro Services, so-called MMS. Are you interested in the operation of the Kačerov depot, where the subway trains for line C have their base? Have a look at the report.

Line C of the Prague metro represents for many people an essential transport connection in our metropolis. However, few people know how many people are involved in taking care of the technical facilities, i.e. ensuring the maintenance and servicing of the train sets that run on this line. The maintenance of 53 sets of Metro C takes place at the Kačerov depot and is fully in the hands of our employees at Siemens Mobility.

We have been maintaining Metro C since 2005 with a method called full service. The transport company then ensures the operation of the trains. There are around 130 workers of various professions, from locksmiths, electromechanics, painters, and warehouse workers, to technicians and maintenance planning workers at the Kačerov depot. The maintenance plan for Metro C vehicles is precisely determined, it is determined by the number of kilometers traveled by each set. In addition to servicing the Metro C, we also cooperate with educational institutions in terms of practical training for students, thus helping electromechanics and locksmiths with their preparation for a new profession.

Did you know, that...

  • the oldest train set started on line C in 2000, the youngest in 2011?
  • the oldest train sets on the C line has started with the highest level N7 maintenance in 2020, which will last until 2024?
  • each year, every train set drives an average of 93,000 kilometers?
  • line C has a total of 20 stations and the length of the route is 22.4 kilometers?
  • metro line C carries around 500,000 passengers every day?

With the expansion of our service teams, we are looking for new colleagues - not only for servicing metro trains, but also for our team who is in charge of our locomotives, and you can find them at the depot in Vršovice. We are happy to have a great team of technicians who understand their work and are always learning new things. You too can become part of our maintanence service!

What our people say about the department:

"We are responsible for the maintenance of metro trains on the busiest line of the Prague metro. Our work also includes cleaning and removing signs of vandalism. Maintenance is a low-visibility job that requires good planning and careful work. At the same time, it is necessary to be ready to use new technologies that can further speed up maintenance, improve the working environment and ultimately contribute to greater train reliability."
